Operation Christmas Child

With Christmas coming, HighPoint at Northridge gears up to pack shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. This project isn't just for elementary age children, though. "Big Church" attenders are encouraged to participate as well. Consider packing a shoe box with your family or do it together as a community group. Then, drop off the shoe boxes at HighPoint, all campuses and all services. Please get the boxes in by Sunday, November 16th.

Operation Christmas Child Begins!

Sunday, October 20th, kicks off this year's first day of Operation Christmas Child shoe box collection! High Point at both campuses will be heading up box collection. Their goal is to fill up one whole wall on the Irondequoit High Point stage with boxes ready to be sent to a child in need. Even if you don't have children, you, your family and/or your community group can participate. Wet Your Feet with Operation Christmas Child

A great way to wet your feet in service during Christmas time is to help fill a shoe box for Operation Christmas Child (by Samaritan's Purse).  Fill shoe boxes with toys, school supplies, personal items, and other gifts.  These boxes are then distributed all over the world as Christmas gifts, accompanied by Christian literature by Samaritan's Purse.  Collection week is November 18-25th.  See http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/ for details.

What Do You/Did You Do While There?

Participated in the weekly items to bring in for the Highpoint giving project as well as putting together several packed boxes independently.

What Did You Enjoy About Your Experience?

 As a mother of a young child I have a strong desire to raise him with a serving heart.   I loved Operation Christmas child because he was able to relate to everything we were doing.  From gathering the shoes boxes to finding items weekly to putting together the boxes.  Since its for children he can see first hand how he can make a difference in someone's life.   As well as reaching children at the ends of the earth  we were blessed with discovering a  local child who was not going to receive any gifts for christmas.  This child was the same age as my son.  We went out and Dominick picked out a hat and mittens, some toiletries and small toys that he himself wanted and we would get them for this child.   He really became involved and while it was sometimes hard for him picking out something he really wanted and giving it to Caden’s box it meant a lot for him to know that he was able to do this for another child.  We would also pray for the children that would receive the boxes and I would encourage him to pray his own prayers.

Why Would You Recommend Others to Serve Where You Did?

This is a great experience for anyone to participate in.  I love that so many children get to receive the word of the Gospel but also to experience it.  They can see the Gospel in action.  You can show them the love of Christ.   The goal of operation Christmas Child is to reach 100 million children.  This is a chance for someone to give a potentially life changing gift.

Don't forget, if you're participating in Operation Christmas Child this year like Shamiah is, the last day to bring in completed shoe boxes is Sunday November 11th.  Please bring the boxes to High Point during the Sunday morning services at either campus.

Are you unable to pack a shoe box this year, but still want to help out with Operation Christmas Child?  Here are 2 more ways that Samaritan's Purse says you can get involved.

Prayer
As we approach National Collection Week, please pray that the Lord will use these shoe box gifts to touch the hearts of the children receiving them, their families, and their communities.  Pray also for the local believers who will be delivering these presents, especially those in nations that are hostile to the Gospel.

Help Teach a Child About the Savior

Samaritan's Purse developed The Greatest Journey as a follow-up discipleship program for children who receive shoe box gifts.  For just $6, you can help us train local Christians to teach the program and provide printed materials, including New Testaments for the children who graduate.

Operation Christmas Child

Another year and another opportunity to help millions of children around the world receive a shoe box filled with gifts for Christmas.  The shoe boxes represent more than smiles and laughter; they become Gospel opportunities that open doors to share the love of Jesus Christ with children and their families.  Will you be a part of this?
