CompassCare is Being Forced to Relocate!

CompassCare is being forced to relocate! Your help is needed to ensure CompassCare's life-saving services are not interrupted or suspended. Please consider a one-time gift toward Expansion 2017, over and above your normal financial commitment to ensure CompassCare's mission critical services continue uninterrupted.     CompassCare has found a building to purchase on West Henrietta Road (about a mile from our current location). By purchasing this $300,000 property, CompassCare could save approximately $1.3 million in rental costs over a 20 year period! This frees up more money for direct mission services. Every $1 invested in the purchase of an office in 2017 will reduce CompassCare's long-term facility costs by $3. In order for CompassCare to purchase the property, renovate, and move in within the VERY tight two month timeline, without interrupting our life-saving mission services, $73,600 is needed.

Professional Space A clean, comfortable, and professional medical space is crucial to serving patients at-risk for abortion. The recently remodeled, 4500 sq. ft. facility provides CompassCare with nearly twice as much operational space and a more updated clinical environment. Accessibility The new location is very accessible to the patients CompassCare serves. The office building is situated only one mile from CompassCare's current location, just south of the U of R and just north of MCC. Also, there is a bus stop right outside the office complex and all the major abortionists in Rochester are within a four mile radius of the new location. Sustainability The purchase of this property will help safeguard CompassCare's mission for the future. CompassCare will save a significant amount of money on an annual basis, freeing up more money for direct mission services.

RN Position Available at CompassCare

NOW HIRING!  Part-Time Nurse Position Available CompassCare is looking for mature Christian nurses (RN license required) who are interested in serving women at-risk for abortion, with demonstrated skills in nursing and effective communication. Position will include seeing patients for pregnancy testing and Kathy Mauer confirmation, options counseling, and STD testing and treatment.   Marks of an ideal applicant are:  Current NY nursing license Teachable Excellent communicator  Flexible schedule Not a primary family wage earner Has a passion for helping at-risk women have their babies  Position is flexible, requiring 8-15 hours per week.  All training will be provided. Just Show Up and We'll Donate $50

Join us May 21st at the Highland Bowl for CompassCare's 2016 Walk for Life. This great event features food and fun for the whole family, while raising awareness and support for their work to erase the need for abortion. If you are not familiar with CompassCare, I would encourage you to read about their incredible work to provide for women with unplanned pregnancies to help them imagine a future with their baby and make the hard choice to give that baby life!

"I Just Want to See my Baby Again"

Maria took the first pill of the medical abortion drug, RU-486, but then changed her mind and did not take the second. She reached out to her OB/GYN to see if they could help her reverse the effects of the drug but they could not. She then reached out to the abortionist where she got the RU-486, they did an ultrasound and her baby had a heartbeat but they said they could not help her sustain the pregnancy.

Maria was desperate to find someone that could help her and she found CompassCare online. She called the scheduling line and came in to receive treatment. By that point it had been four days since she had started the medical abortion and she had been experiencing extreme cramping and some spotting. She and her nurse feared the worst but during the ultrasound the baby looked healthy. Maria started the progesterone treatments and promised to return in two days for further treatment. Between her appointments at CompassCare, Maria began to experience even worse cramping and spotting. She went to her local ER and was told that she was miscarrying. She still decided to come back to CompassCare, hoping against hope that it wasn't true. Maria told her nurse, "I just want to see my baby again." Her child still had a heartbeat but it looked like Maria was indeed miscarrying. Maria in anguish turned her face towards the wall and silently cried.

When Maria left she quietly thanked her nurse for all her help and was grateful for the church referral in her area. Maria left with a heavy heart and grief-stricken face. Her nurse asked and received permission to follow-up with her over the coming weeks to see how she was doing. 

A couple weeks after her last appointment, Maria’s nurse called her to check-in. She was delighted to learn that Maria was still pregnant! She had an ultrasound the previous week and her baby appears to be doing well, evidenced by a strong heartbeat and normal growth. She is eager for more follow-up calls from her nurse and expressed her gratitude for CompassCare’s support. Please continue to pray for her as she is still struggling emotionally and has many material and relational needs.

Community groups, individuals and families will go around local businesses putting up CompassCare fliers. Camille's Story

"I'm looking for a place that won't judge me..."

Camille did not fit CompassCare’s typical patient profile. She is married and has several children. After making it clear that she was undecided about this pregnancy, she looked her nurse in the eye and said, “I’m looking for a place that won’t judge me.” Her nurse assured her that CompassCare was not interested in judging her but in giving her all the facts and information she will need to make the best decision possible. 

Softened, Camille described why she did not want to be pregnant. She and her husband were experiencing, what she called “marital issues”. They also were concerned about their financial situation. But most of all, Camille said he wanted her to abort…again.  Camille, with a look of deep regret on her face, said that last time she had changed her mind just before the procedure and her husband convinced her to go ahead with the abortion.

Having a previous history of abortion is an additional risk-factor for a woman and is a significant indicator that she will abort again. This was true for Camille; she had had multiple abortions and said that although they had traumatized her, there really was no other option. This was why she so desperately wanted a nonjudgmental environment. 

Camille's demeanor started to change during her ultrasound as her 7-week-old baby showed on the screen. The ultrasound seemed to excite her about another pregnancy and another chance. During the gospel presentation, Camille confessed that she had a hard time with forgiveness because of her past abortions. “How could God ever forgive me?” she asked her nurse. Her nurse gently shared with her that forgiveness from God was not based on her goodness but on the goodness of His Son, who died to set her free. Camille, with tears flowing down her face, prayed to God for forgiveness and help.

Camille still had many risk factors that could have caused her to cave to the pressure her husband was putting on her to abort. But when her nurse gently asked her what she was now planning on doing, Camille excitedly proclaimed, “I’m going to keep my baby!”

CompassCare needs your hands and feet on the street to raise awareness in the Rochester community through a guerrilla marketing campaign! Guerrilla marketing is a low-cost and organic strategy used to gain maximum exposure for a brand. Let's get CompassCare's name out into the community, so that it is top of mind for women considering abortion.  Monroe County has seen a 40% reduction in abortion in just six years! CompassCare is seeking to reach another 10% of women at-risk for abortion in Rochester and be the first county in the US to see its abortion rate cut in half. This will also put significant stress on the abortion industry, thereby driving up demand for CompassCare's services.  CompassCare's guerrilla marketing campaign is designed to reach women by putting a CompassCare flyer in every barber shop, cafe, pizza parlor, coffee shop, and diner in the city limits - basically, anywhere there is a public bulletin board. To do this we need your help to be hands and feet on the street!    Sample Flyer

Thank You for Protecting Preborn People!

Dear Northridge Church,

Thank you! On May 2, you and hundreds of people like you participated in the 2015 Walk for Life and publicly demonstrated your passion for protecting the personhood of preborn boys and girls. Over 800 people, representing 74 Rochester area churches converged at the Highland Bowl to create awareness and raise funds for CompassCare's life-saving work. Thank you for leveraging your voice and your influence on behalf of those that have none. 

At CompassCare women facing unplanned pregnancy are not alone and they never have to be. Typically, women considering abortion feel like they have no choice at all. But the ethical medical services and the comprehensive follow-up facilitated by CompassCare provide real empowerment showing her that she can choose the most difficult yet most fulfilling path, to have her baby.

  

On May 2, passionate pro-lifers from all over Rochester spoke with a unity of voice rarely seen in today's hyper-individualistic world. A PROtest in the truest sense of the word happened. We proactively testified to the community about the light of the truth of humanity that has been dimmed of late, that everyone from conception to natural death is a person deserving of protection. And that any attempt tonarrow that definition is an abuse of power and the beginning of great crimes against humanity.On Saturday, you spoke out against this atrocious and arrogant human tendency to dehumanize the weak, vulnerable, and voiceless.

Thank you for your courage and generosity to stand for the humanity of preborn boys and girls, as well as the dignity of their mothers. You are testifying to the world that each member of the human family must be valued equally. Thank you for not only raising $191,000 (and counting) at the Walk for Life but also raising awareness with your family, friends, and community the importance of protecting the preborn. The abortion wall in Monroe County is crumbling - with a 40% reduction in abortions! CompassCare's goal is to reach another 10% of the total number of women considering abortion in Rochester and help them have their babies. Thank you for partnering with CompassCare in erasing the need for abortion.
