Tutoring at RFM

Last school year, one of the moms of a Rochester Family Mission tutoring student came by the mission and asked her six-year-old if he wanted to go to karate. His response: "No mom, I want to stay here.  We're having fun doing math and reading."

In a city where only about 46% of students graduated high school in 2010, the above snippet is an encouragement and a testimony to the effectiveness of Rochester Family Mission's K-12th grade tutoring program.

Now you can be apart of this program!  Rochester Family Mission is looking for volunteers to tutor students of the Tremont Ave. area.  The new tutoring season kicks off September 10th.  Volunteers are needed one day a week, Monday-Wednesday from 5:30pm-7pm.  Each night the kids start off eating dinner, move into doing homework, then time is focused on their problem subject (usually math or reading), and finally students play for 15 minutes at the end.

If you're interested in helping and/or would like more details, please comment on this blog or email agencyrep.northridge@gmail.com.
